Whitby House Alterations & Additions

A wonderful 1700m2 site high above the Pauatahanui Inlet, with views out across Mana Island, is the scene for a proposed subdivision and new house in front of and below, the existing 1970’s  house. Once the subdivsion and new house design was approved at Resource Consent level, it then became an urgent matter to upgrade the existing house.

Serious maintenance issues needed to be addressed, and the 1970’s aesthetic was tired and in need of a modernised facelift. Existing plaster claddings were replaced with dark stain cedar vertical shiplap. A new master bedroom, walk in wardrobe and ensuite were added and upgrading of the interiors generally. “Dated” 1970’s sloping glazed walls were replaced with new vertical sliding doors, and the external works with new entry streps and paved patio were undertaken being mindful of the proposed future subdivision driveway.
